To the editor:

Reading the article "Israeli Sentenced to Life for Killing a Palestinian," one can't help but notice a key difference between the "right wing" Israeli government and the "moderate" Palestinian Authority.

When an Israeli Jew is involved in terrorism, he is ostracized by society and the right wing Israeli government hunts him down and prosecutes him.

When a Palestinian is involved in terrorism, the moderate Palestinian Authority names town squares, schools and soccer tournaments after him and, if he is captured, pays him and his family a generous salary and demands his release.

This is just one of many reasons why Jewish terrorism is extremely rare while Palestinian terrorism is rampant and one of the clues to why an Arab-Israeli peace will remain impossible until there is a revolutionary change in Palestinian Arab society and its leadership.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
