To the editor:

Regarding Michelle Goldberg's column, "Is liberal Zionism dead?," there are many alternatives to the so-called "two-state solution," something the Palestinian Arabs have repeatedly rejected and the very concept of which Mahmoud Abbas has said he would never accept, but a "one-state solution" isn't among them.

We (Israel) gave the Palestinian Authority control over more than 95 percent of the Arabs living in the disputed territories nearly a quarter century ago. It's none of our business what they do with whatever additional territory we give them in a peace agreement - as long as they stop trying to kill us - and we have no interest in governing them.

One-state? Not a chance.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
