To the editor:

Yossi Beilin claims to know the magic bullet, in "Confederation Is the Key to Mideast Peace." President Obama also claims to know the key; for him, it's the so-called "two-state solution," which is really a four-state (Jordan, Israel, Fatahland/West Bank and Hamastan/Gaza) solution.

They both miss the point. The true key is the need for the Palestinian Arabs to choose peace over their continued dream of destroying Israel.

Once they choose peace, there will many different solutions that can work. Until they choose peace, none will work. Until they choose peace, concentrating on possible solutions contribute to the continuation of the conflict.

The vision needed is the vision of peace.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
