To the editor:

Re "Europe Mislabels Israel," Eugene Kontorovich fails to mention the crucial factor in Europe's discriminatory ruling concerning the labeling of products produced by Israeli companies in the disputed territories. This factor is the unwritten but almost universally applied eleventh commandment: thou shalt always apply a double standard when it comes to Israel.

For the European Union to so despicably follow that commandment is no longer surprising. For the European Union to do so at the same time Palestinian terrorists are busy running around knifing women, children and elderly Jewish men and so close to the anniversary of Kristallnacht only illuminates how morally bankrupt that organization has become.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
