To the editor:

The editorial "Israel says dissenters are unwelcome" completely misrepresents the B.D.S. movement by falsely portraying it as a protest "against Israel for its occupation of the West Bank."

Ignoring the fact that about 95 percent of the Arabs in the "West Bank" have lived under their own government for nearly a quarter century, the leaders of the B.D.S. movement have made clear their goal of destroying Israel. As Norman Finkelstein, himself no friend of Israel, points out, "There’s no Israel. That’s what it’s really about."

Not putting out a welcome mat for people who are trying to destroy you seems like common sense to me.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
