Ode to an Aunt

Written in memory of Hannah Stein by her nephew, Arnold Schlissel

Ode to an Aunt

It is frequently said "they don't make them like the used to".
A sometimes reply is "they never did"

Aunt Hannah was proof that they did.
And that the "old models" had traits that their sleek successors can't match.

I had never once thought about her passing from this world
And if I had would have assumed she would fade away like the flame of a candle in another 30 years.

We had such a wonderful visit by Alan and Marsha, and never in our darkest dreams thought we'd receive a message "Hi. We're home safely. We have what seems to be very bad news about my mom"

Now Aunt Hannah is gone, and if there is a heaven she is saying hello to Grandma Faggie, and Aunt Mary, and maybe some other wonderful ancestors.

Love to all of you from all of us.

Arnie
