The ABC Homepage: ABC is an ASCII notation used for music. A variety of software programs, many of them public domain or shareware, store music in ABC notation and print the music in standard musical notation.
To my own surprise, I've found typing music in ABC notation much faster than using graphics based software. There's also quite a bit of music stored in ABC notation in archives, ready for downloading.
