To the editor:
Re The Times' June 19 editorial on "The Death of Klinghoffer," the "lamentable decision" by the Metropolitan Opera was not to cancel the broadcasts but to produce a hateful piece of propaganda masquerading as art.
With its cancellation of the worldwide broadcast, the Met has tacitly conceded, without explicitly admitting, the reality that this propaganda opera should not have been put on its schedule. The Met should now follow through with the logical consequence of that recognition and smite "The Death of Klinghoffer."
Sincerely,
Alan Stein
