To the editor:
Re your editorial, "Israel's Unworkable Demands on Iran," those demands sound amazingly similar to what President Obama's own demands were not very long ago.
A sobering thought: One of the prime motivators leading Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin to gamble on the now failed Oslo process back in 1993 was his conviction that Iran's nuclear weapons program was a far more serious threat to Israel than the Palestinian Arabs. He believed he could end the dispute with the Arabs, allowing Israel to concentrate on the real threat, Iran. If President Clinton at that time had negotiated the sort of agreement with Iran being contemplated by President Obama today, Iran would have obtained nuclear weapons about a decade ago.
Sincerely,
Alan Stein
