To the editor:

Within a few days, The New York Times has published two articles which indicate it has lost its moral compass.

One was a fawning interview with a flaming antisemite, Alice Walker, which not only made no mention of her blatant bigotry but also included a plug for a book infused with antisemitic conspiracy theories.

The other was an editorial which not only misrepresented the BDS movement, whose founders and leaders have made clear the intention of which is the ultimate destruction of the world's only Jewish state, and the pending anti-BDS legislation before Congress, but not-so-subtly made clear The New York Times favors housing discrimination against Jews in the Land of Israel. The latter is something which I, as both an American and an Israeli living in both great countries, take personally.

I can understand an argument that it would be unwise for me to move to an area which may at some time be given away to the Palestinian Arabs. However, it is as morally indefensible to argue, as The New York Times clearly does so often, that I should not be allowed to live in certain parts of the Land of Israel as it would be to argue that a Syrian refugee should not be allowed to move to the Lower East Side.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
