To the editor:

The very title of the article, "The Campus Anti-Israel Craze," illustrates just how sickeningly pervasive and normative antisemitism has become.

Human rights icon Natan Sharansky's "3D test" to distinguish legitimate criticism of Israel from antisemitism includes delegitimization of Israel, demonization of Israel and subjecting Israel to double standards.

Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, but I haven't heard anyone referred to or admitting to being "anti-Iran." Similarly, nobody is anti-Russia or anti-Cuba or anti-North Korea or anti- any country in the world other than Israel.

Ergo, if one is anti-Israel then one is applying a double standard to Israel and is antisemitic. Yet "anti-Israelism" is so common that the term "anti-Israel" can be included in the title of an op-ed, apparently without even the rabbis who wrote the article realizing how revealing it is.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
