Dear Editor:

Reading Tom Friedman's latest pontificating in his article "Only Saudi Arabia and Israeli Arabs Can Save Israel as a Jewish Democracy," I can't help but wondering where he's been for the last three decades? Israel is not ruling 2.7 million Palestinian Arabs in Judea and Samaria, the area Jordan renamed the West Bank after invading Israel in 1948 and capturing it.

Almost all those Arabs have lived under their own government, the Palestinian Authority, since 1994.

Israelis wish them well - at least, when they're not busy murdering us in those bloody terror attacks for which the Palestinian Authority so richly rewards them - but Israel doesn't govern them now and has no interest in governing them in the future. Thus, they are no threat to Israel's dual nature of being Jewish and democratic.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
