Dear Editor:

Philippe Lazzarini writes "Israel Must Stop Its Campaign Against UNRWA," it's really UNRWA that must stop its war against Israel and simultaneously stop doing so much grievous harm to the Palestinian Arabs.

Had UNRWA done its job properly, it would have been disbanded, no longer being needed, seven decades ago and generations of Palestinian Arabs would have lived normal lives instead of living as if they were refugees.

If UNRWA was doing its job properly today, Hamas terrorists wouldn't be operating out of its facilities and Israel wouldn't be finding rockets in its medical clinics and entrances to Hamas tunnels within almost every UNRWA facility in Gaza. UNRWA employees would not have participated in the October 7 massacre and held hostages in their homes.

Given how long UNRWA has effectively acted as an arm of Hamas in Gaza, it's difficult to believe Lazzarini has not been deliberately complicit or that UNRWA can ever be reformed. He must stop his war against Israel, while the UN must fire him and disband UNRWA.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein
