Dear Editor:
One can agree with much of what Jonathan Dekel-Chen writes in his guest essay "Stop Comparing Hamas to the Nazis." Certainly, there's no comparison quantitatively between the murder of 1,200 Jews and others in Israel on October 7 and the murder of the six million Jews by the Nazis.
When one looks at the quality of the barbarism and cruelty, there certainly is a comparison. Hamas and the other terror groups involved along with the thousands of ordinary Gaza civilians who participated definitely exhibited Nazi-like behavior. Recognizing that does nothing to diminish the uniqueness of the Holocaust. It does serve the purpose of graphically illustrating the unique perversity and staying power of antisemitism as well as the need for Israel to eliminate Hamas.
Sincerely,
Alan Stein
