Truth in Rhyme

Don't Cry For Me

By Renee McRae
August 26,2001

Don't cry for me
As I am gone
Don't lay awake
In the early dawn

With thoughts of grief
Or pity felt
About my life
Or ailing health

I've not gone far
Although from sight
I'm just beyond
Like the day from night

I'm with you still
In the strangest way
I feel your will
All through the day

The bond we shared
And the ways we cared
Are symbols of
Undying love

Be strong in life
And do not fold
Don't let it be said
You just got old

And when you think
You can't go on
That life has made you
Tattered and torn

That's the time
To think of me
That's the time
I'll set you free

You'll feel me with you
You'll know I'm fine
It'll give you strength
To keep towing the line

I'm alive and well
On a different plane
I'm alive and you know it
So just stay sane

Don't be consumed
With grief and fear
Of how I died
Or had you been near

The journey we shared
In the physical place
Has blossomed for me
To the cosmic space

I'm sending this message
Because you're in shock
I don't want you to sit
In that chair and just rock

Pick up those pieces
And see which ones fit
Dust yourself off
Take it bit by bit

We came to a fork
In the road that we travelled
No reason to stop
Or become unravelled

Stand on your own
It's a task you must do
And I Know that I will
Always Love You
