To the editor:

I've seen many misleading headlines, but the August 19 New York Times headline, "Rockets From Gaza and Israeli Response Break Cease-Fire," marks the first time I've seen a headline which was illogical.

Since the rockets fired by terrorists in Gaza had obviously broken the cease-fire by the time Israel responded, the Israeli response had nothing to do with the breaking of the cease-fire.

With eleven cease-fires now having failed because Hamas either rejected them or broke them, it's time to stop trying to appease Hamas into another fatally flawed cease-fire. For the benefit of the people in Gaza, the world needs to force Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah and the other terror groups in Gaza to permanently cease fire.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
