To the editor:

Your editorial, "Horror in Jerusalem," about the latest Palestinian Arab terrorists who murdered three Americans among the five deaths so far, wrongly refers to it as "a tragedy for all Israelis and Palestinians" and wrongly refers to "a cycle of hatred and hopelessness."

There is no "cycle of hatred and hopelessness." There is constant incitement by the so-called "moderate" leader of the Palestinian Arabs, who has stoked the hatred endemic to his people, but if they feel hopelessness it only relates to their dream of destroying Israel. They know peace will come quickly if they ever abandon that dream.

Clearly, the horror in Jerusalem was not considered a tragedy by the Arabs who celebrated by handing out candies and dancing in the streets.

The Times could make a contribution towards ending the carnage with more discerning editorializing.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
