To the Editor:

Roger Cohen fairly accurately gave two interpretations of the facts, but failed to point out the second was absurd, given the fact that the Palestinian Arabs could have had a state several times over had they been willing to share.

An email from The Times included the line, "As Jews know, one day the oppressed fight back." However, it is the Palestinian Arab leadership which is oppressing those people. The Palestinians aren't "fighting back;" instigated by Mahmoud Abbas, they're lashing out, again, not at their oppressors but at the Jews.

If only, for once, the Palestinians would fight back against their oppressors and leave the Jews alone.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
