To the editor:

Most of the members of Congress who have expressed support for the Iran deal have expressed deep concern about some of its many troubling aspects, be it the precipitous lifting of sanctions, lack of snap back, swiss cheese inspections regime, limited duration, or any of many other serious shortcomings. Yet one may still understand coming to the conclusion that the Obama Administration's inept negotiations have put us in a position where rejecting the deal would lead to a situation even worse than grudgingly accepting it.

To filibuster to prevent a vote on the most important issue to come before the Senate in a generation, as Southern racists did to block civil rights legislation, is beyond understanding. It is an offense to democracy and to the American people. Beyond revealing a lapse in judgement, it reveals a lack of character.

Have those Senators no shame?

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
