To the editor:

Jodi Rudoren left a key fact out of the article "The Dueling Narratives of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict."

When the dueling narratives can be checked out objectively, invariably it is found that the Israeli version corresponds to reality while the Arab version is mostly fiction.

That Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas felt no qualms about going on television and accusing Israel of "executing" an Arab youth, full well knowing the youth was not only alive and being well treated by an Israeli hospital but that he was on video attacking Israeli with a knife shows how little concern Palestinians have that the world cares when they blatantly lie.

The New York Times does not contribute to public understanding when it fails to distinguish between Israeli truths and Palestinian lies.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
