To the editor:

I find it incredible that Nathan Thrall and Robert Blecher ("The Next War in Gaza Is Brewing. Here's How to Stop It") blame Israel, Egypt and the Palestinian Authority for the disaster that is Gaza and the inevitable next war while giving a pass to Hamas, the terrorist groups that's actually responsible.

And by referring to the people under Hamas rule in Gaza as comprising "roughly 40 percent of Palestinians in the occupied territories," they appear to be unaware that not only did Israel turn over governance of almost all of Gaza over two decades ago, but completely left Gaza a dozen years ago.

These and other blatant errors can only make one rather skeptical about the rest of their analysis.

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
