To the editor:

In the editorial "Mr. Netanyahu's Next Test," Israel's prime minister is accused of "steadily shrinking the land available for a Palestinian state."

This is demonstrably false, and was just one of many false accusations and misleading insinuations in the editorial. Since again becoming prime minister in 2009, the Israeli government has authorized only one new "settlement" in the disputed territories and virtually all construction has occurred within the footprint of existing Jewish communities.

Here's the next test for The New York Times: can you write an editorial about Israel that's not filled with false information and misleading insinuations?

Sincerely,

Alan Stein

The Comedian: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Speaking to a reporter at the United Nations headquarters, Ban Ki-moon, apparently with a straight face, said: "I don't think there is discrimination against Israel at the United Nations."
